Madurai by Air
Madurai is connected to Chennai by air. The Madurai airport is about 15 km from the famous Meenakshi amman temple, which is the epicenter of the city. It is best to hire a taxi from the airport from the counter in the arrival lounge. For those who prefer to use public transport, you should take bus number 10A, which runs from the airport to the Periyar bus stand. From Periyar bus stand, all 55 series buses will take you to Madurai Kamaraj University.

Madurai by Train
Direct train services from Madurai to many cities in India are available. Many trains are running between Madurai and Chennai daily. Train tickets can be booked from Indian Railways' reservation centers or online from IRCTC. Railway junction is very nearer to Periyar bus stand say like walk able distance. From Periyar bus stand, you can take 55 series bus to the university.

Madurai by Road
Madurai is situated on National Highways NH-7, NH-45B, NH-49. Travel from Chennai will take approximately 8-10 hours.
Madurai has several bus stands. Most inter-state and overnight buses terminate at Mattuthavani Bus stand. From Mattuthavani bus stand, you can reach the university by taxi or for those who prefer the public transport; many city buses are operated to periyar bus stand. From periyar bus stand, you can reach the university by 55 series buses.
